A little about me

I'm a band nerd at heart!

The concert band CCA has been a big part of my life ever since I was 9 years old. At PLMGSS, I was part of the Flutes and Double Reeds section.

My biggest challenge in the band was stepping up as a Student Conductor. I had enough music background to guide me on what to do but I was still often nervous and doubted my abilities to lead the band.  It was through encouragement from my peers, teachers and Conductor that I gained much confidence in myself. I continued to work hard, diligently taking notes when my conductor conducted, and my efforts paid off! I felt touched when several bandmates came to thank me for helping them improve their playing. During our Sec4 Farewell, my conductor even commended me in front of the band for taking initiative and leading the band well. This made me the happiest in the world, knowing that I did my part to contribute! :D

My role as a Peer Support Leader!

Being a peer support leader meant a lot to me as it gave me the opportunity to help the new Secondary 1 students settle down in the new school environment. Furthermore, I got to be part of the organising committee for the orientation camp and participated in many leadership camps along the way. This journey really pushed me to step out of my comfort zone, take initiative, and not just lead, but serve others as well. I'm glad to have also made many new friends along the way.

Count on me to serve!

When I was offered the opportunity to serve in Cambodia, I immediately took it! I felt I could make a difference and gave my all into every part of the trip, from planning to carrying out the activities. Although extremely exhausting, our efforts paid off when we saw the smiles on the people's faces, inspiring us to want to do more. It required a lot of perseverance, adaptability, and encouragement from one another. I learnt so much from this truly unforgettable experience and I hope to participate in such trips more in the future!
